Lee Hodson Hamilton blow as former Rangers defender forced into self isolation for two weeks

Coronavirus safety precautions will deny Hamilton the services of Lee Hodson for the next two weeks.

Accies have been rocked by the news that their Northern Ireland international has had to go into self-isolation.

The 28-year-old, who is on-loan from Gillingham, has been in contact with somebody who has tested positive for COVID-19.

The former Rangers star has been tested and is negative, but, as per the Scottish Government’s guidelines, he now has to take the precaution of self-isolating for the next fortnight.

Six Aberdeen players also had to self-isolate recently after they had been out with two other team mates who returned positive results.

It is a disappointment to Hamilton and boss Brian Rice as he will be without their influential defender for Saturday’s trip to Livingston and the game at Kilmarnock the week after.

The news is the latest coronavirus blow as Record Sport broke the story on Wednesday night that a St Mirren first-team player has also tested positive for COVID-19.

St Mirren confirmed this morning that the player is self-isolating and will be unavailable for the weekend clash with Hibs.

Glasgow and the greater Glasgow area has been put into lockdown in recent days to try and control the spiralling spike in coronavirus cases.
