Lee Hammond shows off gruesome injury after heartbreaking TUF defeat

Lee Hammond has shown off the gruesome injury that he suffered just seconds into his bout on The Ultimate Fighter.

Hammond was shockingly choked out with less than two minutes remaining in the contest after dominating for the majority of the fight up to that point.

The defeat takes team Conor McGregor to 0-6 for the series, and tensions ran high after the fight as McGregor and Chandler went head-to-head in a heated exchange.

Hammond was up against it from the get-go and suffered a nasty leg injury just seconds into the fight.

After checking an early leg kick, a deep, nasty gash was opened up on the shin of the Irishman that required 20 stitches.

"5 seconds into the fight vs Kurt I checked his kick and this happened. 20 stitches job 10 inside 10 outside right on the kneecap! Bastard of a cut Maddest sport ever anything can happen, two men trained and in shape trying to kill each other! can't wait for the next one.

Despite the loss, Hammond is still eager to achieve his goal of someday becoming UFC Lightweight champion.

"I dominated the whole fight vs a strong tough fighter, made a small error and got caught unfortunately In MMA there’s no space for errors but this is an excellent learning experience early in my young career! I’m ready to right the wrongs, sign with the ufc and begin working towards the World Lightweight title. Just waiting on the call lads," wrote Hammond on Twitter.

The loss sees Team McGregor move to 0-6 for the season, and takes Michael Chandler just two wins away from completing a series clean sweep.
