Lee Grant has joked that Manchester United players thought they might have to redecorate part of the training ground had Cristiano Ronaldo signed for Manchester City.
Some 12 years after leaving Old Trafford for Spanish giants Real Madrid, the Portuguese superstar is back at United after completing his grand return to the club on a two-year contract.
Striking up that deal marked quite the whirlwind few hours in what has been a jaw-dropping transfer window.
Indeed, there was growing speculation that Ronaldo might complete a controversial move to neighbours City on Friday. But from the moment United intervened at the 11th hour, there was ultimately no looking back for the five-time Ballon d'Or winner.
However, there was a short period of time where reserve keeper Grant and his United colleagues thought they might have to take action at Carrington.
Speaking to talkSPORT, the former Derby County stopper said: "The news was strange, actually.
"Coming into the training ground [on Friday morning], there was a lot of talk around the possibility of him heading to the other side of the city. We've got a huge picture of Cristiano in our gym and a few of the players were having a laugh and a joke about what may or may not happen to the mural if he did venture over to the blue side.
"That would have been an interesting conversation if he did, but it was incredible news."
