Lee Grant explains what Marcus Rashford and Mason Greenwood are learning from Edinson Cavani

Lee Grant has explained how Mason Greenwood, Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial are learning from Edinson Cavani in training.

The 34-year-old signed a new one-year contract with Manchester United on Monday after impressing during his debut campaign in England.

The Uruguayan forward has netted nine Premier League goals and 15 in all competitions for United and has received heavy praise from Ole Gunnar Solskjaer for his professionalism and dedication to staying in peak condition.

Cavani 's impact off the field is being felt as equally as on it, according to United goalkeeper Grant, who believes the experienced striker is influencing their other forwards on the training ground.

“He can’t fail to have a strong influence on those guys because the things he’s doing on a daily basis are incredible. He’s first-class," Grant told talkSPORT.

“I’d almost liken him to American footballers with their diligent routines. They don’t just practise for the sake of practising, they practise for the sake of getting better. He does that like no other.

“He’s really, really interesting to watch on the training ground. If you’re Marcus Rashford, Mason Greenwood, Anthony Martial, you’re absolutely watching that.

“I’d be following him around with a notepad and literally watching what he eats, how he moves, how he stretches, what he’s doing in the gym because he’s that good.

“I love having pros around me like that because they really do set the bar high.”

“That’s one of the small parts about why he’s so good," Grant added, discussing his training regime.

“We talk about how professional he is. What that looks like on a daily basis is somebody that is so meticulous in his routine.

“That is all the way down to how he stretches his body, how he prepares himself for training, how he warms down, his gym routines, how he takes himself to the gym after training, all of that is absolutely top-notch.

“When I hear the gaffer and other players talking about how good he is, how much of a leader he is, what a great role model he is to our younger players… that’s what they’re talking about.”
