Tributes have poured in after the shock death of a record-breaking endurance cyclist.
Lee Fancourt, from Gloucester, is believed to have held several world records and was the fastest man to travel 4,300 miles through Europe on a bike.
The 40-year-old set the world record in 21 hours, 14 days and 29 minutes, riding the last 100 miles with a broken rib.
His sudden death has shocked on the cycling community and tributes have poured in to honour Mr Fancourt, who raised thousands of pounds for various charities.
Graham Foot, managing director of cycling shop Slam69, posted a tribute to Mr Fancourt on Facebook.
“I just want to thank everyone for all the messages regarding the parting of Lee Fancourt," he wrote.
"Still trying to sort my head, like everyone who knew Lee its comes as a real shock.
"So many messages today from so many people he came into contact with, even if only for a short time. He left his mark for sure.
"I have been asked to see about a tribute ride, which I will do. I’ll give everyone time to get organised as I imagine a lot of you will want to come along. But early days.”
Delroy Ellis, the service director of the charity Increase the Peace, thanked Mr Fancourt for his contributions.
“So sad to hear the news of Lee Fancourt, hard to find words but I know what a great guy Lee was and he will be truly missed by so many people. My thoughts are with Lee’s family and friends at this difficult time.
“I will always cherish the support Lee gave Increase the Peace and helping to raising money for the charity. I will hold onto these memories and may you rest in peace,” Mr Ellis said.
