Lee Dixon has hit back at Everton fans for 'selective hearing' after criticism of his co-commentary regarding Jordan Pickford.
The Blues goalkeeper has played in all of England's Euro 2020 matches so far and has contributed crucially to Gareth Southgate's side keeping five clean sheets to reach the semi final.
The Three Lions comfortably came through their quarter-final against Ukraine in Rome on Saturday night thanks to a brace from Harry Kane, added to goals from Harry Maguire and Jordan Henderson.
But again Pickford was called upon to stop Andriy Shevchenko's side grabbing themselves a goal, particularly in the first half to deny Roman Yaremchuk at the near post.
However, in previous matches Evertonians have been disappointed by the co-commentary provided by Dixon regarding England's No.1.
On numerous occasions Blues supporters have taken to social media to comment on the former Arsenal man's criticism of some decisions made by the Everton star in respective matches.
Blues on Twitter have taken issue with Dixon's tendency to "question every intervention" Pickford makes.
During the win against Czech Republic, Eddie Robson tweeted: "Lee Dixon saying 'What's Pickford waiting for?' before Pickford plays a terrific pass down the middle after waiting for the Czechs to come forward a bit."
While remarking on the same game, Peter Morris posted: "Dixon was nit-picking all night. ‘He could have caught that’, ‘[H]e could have punched that further’. He’s got serious hang-ups about Pickford, for sure."
Hitting back on Sunday morning at grief he has been getting, Dixon tweeted: "All Everton fans seem to have selective hearing."
That sparked an instant response from a number of Blues supporters, with many claiming that the pundit has only picked up on negatives regarding the goalkeeper rather than the positives.
England's semi final against Denmark will be screened by ITV in the UK, although it has not been confirmed whether the former Arsenal defender will be part of the commentary team once more.
Pickford is expected to start for his country once again after helping the Three Lions to their seventh clean sheet in a row on Saturday evening.
