Lee Bowyer set for crunch Charlton talks after casting doubt over future

Charlton manager Lee Bowyer is set for crunch talks with Paul Elliott and Chris Farnell early next week.

Bowyer is due to meet prospective Charlton owner Elliott and lawyer Farnell after expressing major concerns about the situation at The Valley.

An unhappy Bowyer last week cast doubt over his Charlton future after they were relegated from the Championship following months of turmoil behind the scenes.

Relegation leaves Charlton facing an uncertain future amid a boardroom crisis and an ongoing EFL investigation into owners East Street Investments [ESI].

Bowyer has alluded to “a hell of a lot of things I have not been happy with” and he has raised serious concern about what is going on.

The Addicks remain under a transfer embargo and, unable to sign players, they look set to start pre-season in under three weeks with just 13 registered senior players.

Time is running out for the situation to be sorted before the new season starts on September 12.

The future of Charlton was plunged into doubt on Monday when the EFL announced they still require information from ESI about their proposed takeover.

Charlton fans fear the club could be expelled from the Football League after the EFL warned ESI to prove the colour of their money or face the consequences.
