Lee Bowyer makes Premier League prediction for Leeds United under Marcelo Bielsa

Former Leeds United man Lee Bowyer has predicted that the Whites will have a successful first season in the Premier League after they secured their return.

Marcelo Bielsa’s men faced Bowyer’s Charlton side on the final game of the season, having already earned promotion back to the top division the previous weekend.

The Addicks went into the game with the distinct possibility of exiting the league the opposite way to Leeds.

Goals from Ben White, Stuart Dallas, Tyler Roberts and Jamie Shackleton gave Leeds a comfortable 4-0 win over their rivals. That defeat and other results condemned Charlton to the last remaining relegation place.

Bowyer spent a total of seven years at Elland Road as a player, playing 247 games for the club.

Speaking in his press conference after the game, the Charlton boss gave his prediction on how his former club will fare in the Premier League.

"I think they will be okay, I think they will be around in mid-table,” he said, as reported by Yorkshire Evening Post .

"I think they are going to surprise a lot of teams because, like I have said before, their work ethic and their energy is unreal and teams can't sustain it.

"You have just seen what they have just done to us, I know you are talking about going into a different level altogether playing in the Premier League but they are very good, very very good and I am sure they will strengthen the squad as well.

"You have got good people behind the scenes, the owner, the owner is a good man so I think you will be fine."

It won’t be long until Leeds are in Premier League action, with the suspension of fixtures due to the coronavirus outbreak earlier this season resulting in a reduced summer break at the end of the current campaign.
