LED screens not working at 5 parking lots: UT panel report

CHANDIGARH: The standing committee of the UT administrator’s advisory council (transport) in its report has submitted that LED display screens are non-functional in five parking lots. The report to be presented before UT administrator Banwari Lal Purohit on Friday is silent on their location. Purohit is going to review functioning of nine sub committees of the council.

“LED display screens installed at all parkings (except GPO and Sector 9D) and LED functional in all other parkings except five,” the report said. The report was sought on the system of smart parking in the city as there were numerous complaints in connection with arrangements at parking lots across the city.

The idea behind putting up LED screens on the entrance of parking lots was to display the live occupancy of space.

Recently, MC officials had maintained 80 of the 89 parking lots have put up functional screens. MC commissioner Anindita Mitra in first week of September had given the contractors a week to implementing all smart parking features.
