Led by another dominant night from Kristaps Porzingis, Mavs avenge ugly February loss with blowout of Grizzlies

DALLAS _ In early February, the Grizzlies powered into the American Airlines Center, ignored chaos surrounding potential trade-deadline moves for both teams, and trounced the Mavericks, 121-107.

Dallas ensured a repeat defeat didn't happen Friday, beating Memphis, 121-96.

Kristaps Porzingis continued his blazing run throughout the past weeks, tallying 26 points, 11 rebounds, four assists, four blocks and three steals.

His final line included 11 points in the second quarter _ part of a 19-2 run when the Mavericks extended their lead for good and 7-3 Porzingis flashed his increasing rhythm and physicality by fighting for a loose ball on the court to help the Mavericks extend a possession.

"The way everybody stepped up tonight was terrific," coach Rick Carlisle said. "They really hit us hard in the third quarter last time, and we did a much better job tonight. Our concentration was really good."

Down two of five regular starters _ and dealing with other injury issues throughout the game _ proved little issue.

Tim Hardaway Jr. (illness) and Dorian Finney-Smith (right hip) missed Friday after playing in Wednesday's overtime win over New Orleans. Courtney Lee and Maxi Kleber filled their respective roles.

Seth Curry, a starter in seven of his last eight games, left late in the second quarter after suffering a left ankle injury while driving to the basket. He didn't return after scoring 15 points and shooting 7 of 9 from the field in 15 minutes.

In the absences, the Mavericks' depth showed.

Lee reached double-digit scoring (13 points) for the first time since Feb. 7 on 5-of-6 shooting. Delon Wright (11 points) and Justin Jackson (10) offered strong contributions off the bench.

Doncic finished with 21 points, four rebounds and six assists but appeared hampered at times by his sprained left thumb, shooting 7 of 20 from the field, and the illness that kept him from practicing Thursday.

Entering Friday, the Grizzlies had held each of their last three opponents, including the Lakers, below 100 points.
