Lech Poznan struggle ahead of Rangers clash as Polish side need last-gasp goal in domestic toil

Lech Poznan's domestic struggles persisted as Rangers’ Europa League rivals had to rely on a late goal to sneak a 1-1 draw at home to Cracovia.

The Polish side visit Ibrox on Thursday for the second match of the group, with Steven Gerrard 's side level on points at the top after beating Standard Liege.

Dariusz Zuraw’s side were thumped 4-2 at home by Benfica in the opening game of Group D.

And four days later Poznan fell behind in the first half when Pelle van Amersfoort escaped Alan Czerwinski to volley home.

Zuraw introduced Jakub Kaminski and Mikael Ishak at the break but the home side still toiled to create any clear openings.

However, just as it looked like they were done, Lech found an equaliser.

Marcin Kaminski’s cross fell to Muhamad Awwad to net in the 86th minute, keeping Lech 10th in the Polish top flight.

By contrast Rangers are flying high after establishing a six point lead at the top of the Premiership.

The Ibrox club are yet to lose this season and secured a comfortable 2-0 win over Livingston on Sunday.
