Lech Poznan star in surprising blast at Rangers as he dismisses 'quality' of Steven Gerrard's side

Lech Poznan player Tymoteusz Puchacz has dismissed Rangers as being "not nearly as strong" as Benfica, while adding saying his team deserved at least a point from meeting at Ibrox.

Poznan were beaten 1-0 in the Europa league Group D encounter thanks to a second half Alfredo Morelos header.

However left back Puchacz wasn't particularly impressed with Steven Gerrard's side on the evening.

He said: "I knew right from the start of this game that one goal would be enough because there were hardly any clear chances.

"Even Rangers' goal wasn't a clear chance really.

"Rangers are not nearly as strong a team as Benfica or have their quality. They are certainly not unbeatable and in fact, we should have drawn or even won.

"Unfortunately, no one will remember how well we played and they will only look at the result.

"Rangers defended as a unit and after they scored retreated completely and only played on the counter-attack.

"We have played some nice football, but we didn't manage to score and again have picked up no points. It means next week's game against Standard Liege is very important to us."
