LeBron’s I Promise School students rewarded with surprise of new Nike LeBron 16’s

The students at LeBron James’ I Promise School in Akron, Ohio were rewarded with new pairs of Nike LeBron 16 sneakers for their hard work on Monday. Nike Basketball delivered over 800 pairs of LeBron’s signature shoe in 10 different colorways for the students to pick from to serve as motivation to keep pushing further. When the students arrived at school this morning they were met with the surprise delivery.

The I Promise School opened in 2018 and is supported by the LeBron James Family Foundation as well as Akron public schools. Their mission is specifically aimed at helping develop at-risk children by deploying a STEM-based curriculum. IPS also provides wraparound efforts that educate the whole person–with a focus on both academics and character building.

The free shoes come on the heels of other recent efforts that extend beyond the classroom for the students at I Promise. Last month, the students and their families received free eye exams, lenses and frames as well as school supplies when classes began. A new outdoor basketball court was unveiled, too, along with the construction of a new gym as the I Promise vision continues to grow and develop in its wide-ranging areas of support for the community.
