LeBron’s I Promise School students and their families received free eye exams, lenses and frames

One of the more underrated aspects of LeBron James’ leadership and involvement with the I Promise School in Akron, Ohio is the inspiration he provides for other businesses to also get involved and support the effort. Examples of this include Walmart providing supplies to students, the 2K Foundations and Xbox and their contribution of a new basketball court as well as Dick’s Sporting Good’s help in building a new gym for the school.

Along those same lines, the Northeast Ohio Eye Surgeons have also gotten involved to provide I Promise School students and their families with free eye exams, lenses and frames. This partnership began last year and continued today with another visit from their team of eye doctors.

“Watching our students put on a pair of glasses that allowed them to see clearly for the very first time was life changing,” Michele Campbell, Executive Director, The LeBron James Family Foundation said in regards to the partnership with the Northeast Ohio Eye Surgeons. “They are literally seeing the world through a whole new perspective, with vision they didn’t even know they were missing. Being able to see is critical to learning, and now they have that resource available right on site thanks to this game-changing partnership.”
