LeBron’s first children’s book, I Promise, set to release August 11

Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James clinched the No. 1 seed in the Western Conference on Monday, but the business of being LeBron is never finished and a week from Tuesday, he will have another milestone to add to his already extensive resume: published children’s book author.

“I Promise” a book authored by LeBron James and illustrated by New York Times bestselling illustrator Nina Mata will go on sale on August 11 from publisher HarperCollins. The book is part of a two-book deal, which will include a novel for middle-grade children.

“Books have the ability to teach, inspire, and bring people together. That’s why these books, and the opportunity to get children and parents reading together, mean so much to me,” says LeBron James. “Most importantly, we wanted to make sure these stories are ones that every single kid can see themselves in. I PROMISE is powerful in that way and I can’t wait for people to read it.”

Earlier this summer, families who are served by the I Promise school but are in need of housing, were the first ones to move into the I Promise village.
