LeBron’s connection to Jeanie Buss, Linda Rambis ‘stronger than any ownership relationship’

Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James and relationships with team ownership, or as they are now referred to by the NBA as Team Governors, have never been that great. His relationship with Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert was never that close, although they reconciled before LeBron returned to Cleveland, it was never a rosy relationship. And as far as the Miami Heat, that wasn’t much of a factor either. But in Los Angeles, things between LeBron James and the people clearing the checks upstairs are different now.

In a story written on Tuesday by ESPN’s Brian Windhorst, he described that the bond LeBron James has with Lakers Governor Jeanie Buss and her confidant, Director of Special Projects Linda Rambis, is as good of a relationship with ownership as LeBron has ever had.

Those close to James describe his relationship with Jeanie and her lead executive, Linda Rambis, as the most connected he has been with ownership in his career. Though he has been with the team for less than two years, unexpected turbulence has brought them together — a diametric shift from situations in James’ past.

There are lot of factors at play here. One of them was Magic Johnson’s sudden departure and another one was that the Lakers had very clearly hitched their wagons to LeBron James and Klutch Sports, as evidenced last year by their pursuit of Anthony Davis.
