LeBron on Nurkic injury: ‘You never wish that on anybody’

Like the most of the NBA world last night, LeBron James saw the gruesome left leg injury suffered by Portland center Jusuf Nurkic.

James and Nurkic have had their run-ins on the court as competitors, with Nurkic talking trash to James and James throwing down one of his greatest dunks ever on Nurkic. But when asked about the moment, James could only extend his condolences to his fellow warrior. Despite the on-court battles, the injury is nothing to wish on anyone.

From the Southern California News Group’s Kyle Goon

“It’s unfortunate. Unfortunate injury. You don’t wish no injury like that on anybody,” James told reporters. “He had a helluva game going. Helluva season going. It’s unfortunate that injuries take such a toll in sports in general. I was there live in the game when Gordon (Hayward) did what he did last year. And I was watching Paul George do what he did. So hopefully he can come back from that injury.”

While they were also competitors, Nurkic and James also share a mutual connection: LeBron’s high school teammate Romeo Travis, who played professionally with Nurkic in Europe.

James and the Lakers will take the court later this evening against Bradley Beal and the Washington Wizards.
