LeBron James wishes happy 41st birthday to Lakers legend Kobe Bryant

Only an hour before news broke that Dwight Howard would be joining the Los Angeles Lakers, LeBron James was already in a celebratory mood on his social media accounts. He celebrated the 41st birthday of Lakers legend Kobe Bryant.

In a tweet in which he wished Bryant a happy birthday, James went as far as to call him a “GOAT.” Today is Kobe’s 41st birthday and he is being celebrated by people all over social media, but especially his fellow athletes.

An NBA Finals matchup between Bryant and James remains one of the greatest what-ifs in NBA history: The two players most lauded in the post-Michael Jordan were never able to face off at the highest level.

James has admired Bryant as an inspiration, even stealing the phrase “taking my talents” from Bryant’s high school press conference in which he announced his entry into the NBA. But with LeBron now part of the Lakers franchise that Bryant stayed with for his whole career, the King making sure everybody knows he’s on #TeamMamba.
