LeBron James welcomes ‘a flat out dog’ Dennis Schröder to Lakers

The Los Angeles Lakers officially made their big move after making the 28th pick in yesterday’s 2020 NBA Draft, trading the pick, and Danny Green to the Oklahoma City Thunder in exchange for 8-year point guard Dennis Schröder. Schröder has plenty of experience running the show alongside other great players, such as Chris Paul, Russell Westbrook, and Paul George, while he’s coming off arguably the best season of his career.

Schröder finished in the top-three in the NBA’s Sixth Man of the Year voting, averaging 18.9 points, 3.6 rebounds, and four assists while shooting 47% from the field, 38.5% from the 3-point line and 83.9% from the free-throw line. After the deal was finally announced by the Lakers, LeBron James referred to Schröder as a “flat out dog” joining “a pack of them,” on his Instagram Story.

While Schröder’s efficiency was at a higher level than it has been in his career, his ability to carry a significant workload will be a major help for the Lakers as they are going to start the season only 71 days after winning the NBA Finals. Schröder ran over 472 pick and rolls for the Thunder in the regular season and playoffs combined last season. LeBron James led the Lakers last season with 469 pick and rolls, with the next closest player being Rajon Rondo at 183, according to Synergy Sports.
