LeBron James was forced to apologise to team-mate after heated bust-up

Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James is widely accepted as one of the greatest NBA players of all-time, but even he can get things wrong from time-to-time.

James has seen it all over his successful NBA career, and has won the respect of his peers after winning four championships. The Lakers star is a born leader and regularly leads by example, but James once had to apologise after losing his cool.

While at the Cleveland Cavaliers, James got into a heated bust-up with Tristan Thompson, a situation that has not occurred too frequently over his career. But on this occasion James later admitted he was in the wrong, and Cavaliers team-mate Dahntay Jones convinced him to apologise.

James apologised to Thompson after an altercation became heated, but he needed convincing from former Cavaliers guard Jones. The incident was discussed by Jones during an appearance on 'The No Chill with Gilbert Arenas Podcast ', as he claimed: "Him (James) and Tristan got into it one time.

"And he was like, ‘But Tristan ain’t —.’ I was like, ‘But bro, you wrong. Tristan was there. He’ll run through a wall for you. You gotta, you need to apologise.’

"Goes and apologise. If you hold him accountable, he’ll listen. If you give him information, he’s taking everything to just be better on a daily basis.

"That’s where the respect came in because he’s a hell of a teammate. He’s always prepared. He gives everything he has to winning and being dominant. It’s like, okay, it’s not by accident that he’s considered one of the greatest of all time."

James is respected by most NBA stars past and present, but he's having a difficult time at the Lakers this season. After an awful start the Lakers are 2-6, and despite flexing the likes of Anthony Davis and Russell Westbrook, they just can't seem to get it right.

And their shooting has been criticised by James, who called out his team-mates for not delivering on the court earlier in the season. "I think we’re getting great looks. But it could also be teams giving us great looks," James said.

"Being completely honest, we’re not a team that’s constructed of great shooting. That’s just the truth of the matter. It’s not like we’re sitting here with a lot of lasers on our team."

They've since picked up two wins since James made that statement, but they're far from turning a corner at this moment in time. It could be another long season for the Lakers, who only won the NBA back in 2020.
