LeBron James wanted teammates to focus despite big lead in Game 1

The Los Angeles Lakers dominated the Miami Heat in Game 1 of the NBA Finals, played last night in the Walt Disney World bubble. The Lakers led by as many as 32 points in the game and the Heat saw their three best players all suffer some sort of injury during the course of the game. It was during this that the Lakers, who have been the loudest team in the bubble when it comes to trash talk, started letting the Heat know it wasn’t their night.

According to Chris Haynes of Yahoo, who was courtside at the game, James didn’t like this too much, getting on Anthony Davis and Dwight Howard what he saw as excessive trash talk.

Davis, Howard and some players on the Lakers’ bench began making the glasses gesture again as they walked to their bench. James didn’t let this celebratory occurrence slide this time.

“Hey, hey! Stop it! Stay locked in!” he shouted at his teammates before entering the huddle. “This s— ain’t over, man.”

James is laying the ground work with his rhetoric to make sure the Lakers who either are new to the NBA Finals or haven’t been back in a while, to not take this opportunity for granted. That will likely continue behind the scenes today when the Lakers go through the Game 1 film, which James is already excited to go over.

Game 2 of the NBA Finals is on Friday night. Meanwhile, the status of Goran Dragic and Bam Adebayo going into Game 2 are both uncertain.
