June 03--Cleveland Cavaliers star LeBron James is under contract to sell his waterfront home in Coconut Grove, Fla., according to the Multiple Listing Service.
The pending sale comes after James in March lowered the asking price for the modern compound in the Crystal Cove area to $15 million, down from $17 million last year. Records show that the 30-year-old basketball player paid $9 million for the property in late 2010, the year it was built.
The walled estate encompasses nearly half an acre with a 12,178-square-foot main house, a guesthouse, security quarters, a 4,500-square-foot patio space and an infinity-edge pool with waterfall features and custom lighting. Private dockage can accommodate space for up to two 60-foot yachts.
The three-story main house, replete with dark hardwoods, box-beam ceilings and glass walls, has an elevator, a wood-paneled office and a home theater with stadium seating. An entertainment wing features a lounge area, a game room and a wet bar. There are six bedrooms and 8.5 bathrooms.
After spurning the Cavaliers to sign with the Heat in 2010, James, four times the NBA's Most Valuable Player, returned to Cleveland on a two-year free agent contract last summer. On Thursday, the Akron native will make his sixth NBA Finals appearance in a matchup against the Golden State Warriors.
