Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James often makes a statement with what he’s wearing when he enters an arena.

Before Tuesday’s Game 1 against Portland in the first round of the playoffs, James and his teammates made a social justice statement.

Riffing off the MAGA red hat theme, James and other Lakers wore a red hat that read “Make America Great Again arrest the cops who killed Breonna Taylor.”

James also wore a t-shirt that read “By Any Means.”

James posted photos of himself wearing the hat and shirt on Instagram with the message: “By Any Means‼️ Lets Get It #JusticeForBreonnaTaylor❤️✊ .”

After the game — which the Lakers lost, 100-93, to the Blazers — James explained why he wore the hat.

“Just something we continue to put our foot on the gas, continue to pressure,” James said. “You know the situation that is going on in Louisville, Kentucky. An innocent woman being killed, by the name of Breonna Taylor. A woman who had a bright future and her life was taken away from her. There’s been no arrests. There’s been no justice. Not only for her, but for her family. We continue to shed light on that situation.”

Taylor was a 26-year-old EMT who was killed in her home after police entered her residence as part of a narcotics investigation. Police say they began shooting after an officer was shot and injured. In a lawsuit, an attorney for Kenneth Walker, Taylor’s boyfriend, said officers weren’t looking for Taylor or Walker and no drugs were found.

NBA players on the Disney campus have sought justice for Taylor’s death on social media and in interviews with reporters.
