Even though the Los Angeles Lakers and LeBron James finally saw their season come to a close on Friday night against the Brooklyn Nets, LeBron didn’t want to let the meeting go without recognizing someone deserving of recognition.
D’Angelo Russell has been one of the best stories of this NBA season, turning himself from a would-be lottery bust to an NBA All-Star two seasons after the Lakers essentially gave up on him. Russell reached out to LeBron for advice during his struggles and LeBron referenced that conversation on Instagram, saying that he was proud of Russell’s growth.
Russell is having a career season and his Nets are on the verge of clinching their first playoff berth in four seasons.
As for the Lakers, their season is effectively over with nine games to play. They host the Sacramento on Sunday night.
