LeBron James ties Kobe, Duncan and Kareem with 15th All-NBA selection

The NBA announced the All-NBA teams for the 2018-19 regular season on Thursday afternoon, with LeBron James still making it to the All-NBA third team despite playing the fewest games he’s ever played.

This is LeBron’s 15th All-NBA selection in 16 seasons and his first such selection to the 3rd team. James was joined on the third team by Charlotte’s Kemba Walker, Oklahoma City’s Russell Westbrook, Detroit’s Blake Griffin and Utah’s Rudy Gobert. With the selection, James tied Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Kobe Bryant and Tim Duncan as the players to make All-NBA 15 times.

James played a career-low 55 games in 2018-19 after suffering the longest absence of his career following a groin injury during the team’s Christmas Day victory at Golden State. Although James couldn’t stay on the court and missed more games than ever, he was still as productive as ever, averaging 28 points, eight rebounds and eight assists per game. It was also the first time that LeBron’s team failed to make the playoffs in 13 years.

Milwaukee’s Giannis Antetokounmpo and Houston’s James Harden headlined the All-NBA First Team, making it as unanimous selections next to Golden State’s Stephen Curry, Oklahoma City’s Paul George and Denver’s Nikola Jokic.

The All-NBA Second Team was headlined by Philadelphia’s Joel Embiid, Golden State’s Kevin Durant, Portland’s Damian Lillard, Toronto’s Kawhi Leonard and Boston Celtics guard Kyrie Irving.
