LeBron James throws down slam on Pelicans off pass from Rondo

The Los Angeles Lakers came out with a different starting lineup and a renewed sense of energy early on in the first quarter of their rematch of Saturday’s disappointing loss to the New Orleans Pelicans.

While LeBron James guarded Julius Randle, James also had the main responsibility of protecting the basket and being a help defender on the interior for the Lakers.

And on the offensive end, James was deployed early on as a screener, which led to this excellent highlight dunk off a pass from Rajon Rondo over Pelicans forward Kenrich Williams.

The Lakers have suffered greatly at the center spot over the past few games, especially their last two road losses at Memphis and New Orleans. It appears that the solution to that, at least in longer spurts, is to ask James to take on a bigger role as the team’s big man.
