Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James was one of many who came to voice their support on Sunday for NASCAR driver Darrell “Bubba” Wallace after NASCAR released a statement earlier that night that they would be launching an investigation after a noose was found in Wallace’s garage area. Wallace is the only Black full-time driver in the Cup Series and has been a leading voice in the sport’s commitment to fighting against its history of cozying up to racist symbols, such as the Confederate flag, which was only recently banned by the racing league.
James wanted to let Wallace know that he is not alone in this fight against racism while also commending NASCAR for taking the issue seriously.
James has shown a lot of support for Wallace over the past few weeks as Wallace has been more vocal in asking NASCAR and its community of fans to support Black lives. Many others in the sports community came to show their support for Wallace.
