LeBron James sends taco truck to first responders fighting Getty fire in Los Angeles

LeBron James and his family were evacuated from their home this week as a result of the Getty fire in Los Angeles. On Tuesday, James shared with reporters his appreciation for the first responders who are putting their lives on the line to protect the community. Later, LeBron went one step further by sending a taco truck at lunchtime to the first responders’ headquarters, according to a tweet from Tania Ganguli of the Los Angeles Times.

The Getty fire broke out shortly after 1:30 a.m. on Monday in Los Angeles along the 405 Freeway near the Getty Center and spread into several neighborhoods. One day after it began, the blaze reportedly had charred 658 acres and burned several homes, forcing thousands to evacuate.

There are about 1,100 firefighters battling the blaze throughout the area.

Tonight, the Lakers will tip off against rookie Ja Morant and the Memphis Grizzles at Staples Center. Memphis is coming off its first victory of the season — a 134-133 win over Kyrie Irving and the Brooklyn Nets. Morant, selected No. 2 overall this past summer, officially launched his Rookie of the Year bid with 30 points, nine assists and a block that sent the game to overtime.
