LeBron James sends support to WNBA MVP Breanna Stewart after injury

LeBron James was just the latest and biggest name to share his support for Seattle Storm star and reigning MVP Breanna Stewart after Stewart suffered a devastating torn achilles in the Euroleague championship game over the weekend.

Stewart, alongside legend Sue Bird, led the Storm to the 2018 WNBA Championship. Stewart then went on to lead USA Basketball to a gold medal in the World Championships before going off to play with her Russian team. In the words of LeBron, this loss ‘sucks big time’ for the game.

While James didn’t address it, the way that Stewart was injured is a major issue for the WNBA and the NBA, who runs the league. The league’s elite players like Stewart usually play abroad after their WNBA seasons because those leagues pay them more than the WNBA.

As LeBron James’ most recent season marked by injury might let you know: there is such thing as too much basketball. Hopefully the Stewart injury is something that shakes the NBA to help raise the salaries of players so things like this don’t happen in the future.
