For the second season in a row, Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James selected Boston Celtics point guard Kyrie Irving in the All-Star Game Draft. It’s unclear with which pick James selected Irving in 2018 but this season, Irving was James’ second pick. Right behind Golden State Warriors star forward Kevin Durant.
James is undoubtedly aware of the rumors that Irving is considering reuniting with him in the offseason after leaving James (and the Cleveland Cavaliers) in the 2017 offseason in his efforts to become the face and leader of a franchise. The 16-year NBA veteran may cause a stir with his selection as eyes will be trained on both he and Irvings conversations as well as Irving and Durants.
However, James isn’t the only player that Irving is rumored to be entertaining the idea of teaming up with, as the sensational scorer has also been linked to Durant throughout the season.
Joining Irving and Durant as starters for Team LeBron are Houston Rockets MVP candidate James Harden and Toronto Raptors star forward Kawhi Leonard.
Meanwhile, Milwaukee Bucks phenomenal forward Giannis Antetokounmpo selected Warriors superstar point guard Stephen Curry with his first pick (the second overall pick) and Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid with his second pick. Oklahoma City Thunder forward Paul George and Charlotte Hornets star point guard Kemba Walker will round out Team Giannis’ starting lineup.
The 2019 NBA All-Star Game, which revamped its format last season, will air on February 17 at 8 P.M. EST on TNT.
