LeBron James says Kyrie Irving phone call showed ‘growth’

Unexpectedly, one of the biggest stories of the season for LeBron James had nothing to do with anything he (or anybody also represented by his agent/friend Rich Paul) did.

Kyrie Irving’s admission to the media that he called LeBron James to apologize for how he acted when they were teammates in Cleveland triggered quite the firestorm. Aside from tagging him in his Instagram story, James had never spoken publicly about the call, until today — at the All-Star Saturday media day.

As captured by Kyle Goon of the Southern California News Group, James publicly commended Irving for growth that the phone call helped reveal.

James made sure to say that he has always liked Irving, and still likes him.

With the Lakers unable to get Anthony Davis at the deadline — now able to open up a max contract this summer — Irving could be a target for the Lakers. Even though the Lakers have Lonzo Ball, Ball’s style of play could work next to Irving’s.

The odds of Irving re-joining James are slim, but James is doing what he can to keep all options open with his very laudatory public comments.
