LeBron James says birthday party isn’t a wish because he ‘has to pay for it’

LeBron James isn’t treating 35 any more important than his previous birthdays but he did let the public in that he is having a party to celebrate the milestone. It’s not exactly a wish, however, to be able to throw a birthday party for himself because of the reality for LeBron that he will be paying for dinner, which is usually how it goes at that age.

James was asked about his birthday wishes following Sunday night’s win against the Dallas Mavericks, where he offered reporters the detail about the party he is throwing and footing the bill for what should be a pretty epic party ahead of the New Year.

James didn’t really have the opportunity to celebrate his birthday last season for a couple of reasons. While the Lakers did play on his 34th birthday last year, he was already recovering from a groin injury that derailed last year’s Lakers season. LeBron is also fortunate to have a full day between his birthday and the Lakers’ next game, Jan. 1 against the Phoenix Suns.
