LeBron James reunites with St. Vincent-St. Mary’s ‘Fab Five’ at I Promise School

Wednesday was a huge day for LeBron James. He visited the I Promise School in Akron, Ohio, to unveil a flashy new basketball court and crucial improvements that will help the school to continue in their mission to help under-served youth in the Akron community. While it was a day about LeBron’s vision for the youth of the future, it also was a time for him to reminisce about a glorious time from his younger years.

James was reunited with the the four other members of the “Fab Five”: Dru Joyce III, Sian Cotton, Willie McGee and Romeo Travis, members of the 2003 St. Vincent-St. Mary’s team that won the Ohio state championship.

Their journey was depicted in the 2008 movie “More Than a Game,” which also follows LeBron and his teammates at the time when the superstar was navigating through several controversies, including being gifted expensive throwback jerseys and his mother’s purchase of a new Hummer.

Eventually. the “Fab Five” powered through those obstacles to win the state championship, which immortalized the group in Northeast Ohio history.
