LeBron James completed the NBA cycle of triple-doubles on Tuesday. He made the Oklahoma City Thunder the 30th team he has accomplished the feat against.
We took a look at how he got there, addressing each of the teams that saw LeBron post a triple-double against it in his amazing career.
Atlanta Hawks
LeBron and the Cavaliers lost to the Atlanta Hawks by 126-125 in overtime on April 9, 2017. He played 47 minutes and put up a line of 32-16-10 in the defeat.
Boston Celtics
The Cavaliers’ game with the Celtics went to double-overtime on Feb. 15, 2006. LeBron scored 43 points, grabbing 12 rebounds and dishing 11 assists. Cleveland survived, 113-109. LeBron played 54 minutes and made 16-of-32 shots, failing to hit a 3-pointer in five tries.
Brooklyn Nets
LeBron went for a pair of triple-doubles against the Nets in the 2017-18 season. First, he had 29 points, 10 rebounds and 13 assists in 41 minutes in a 112-107 loss on Oct. 25. Then, he put up 31-12-11 in a 129-123 victory on Feb. 27, 2018.
Charlotte Bobcats/Hornets
When Cleveland faced Charlotte on March 22, 2006, the game went to overtime and the Cavs won 120-118. LeBron played 50 minutes and scored 37 points. He grabbed 11 rebounds — all defensive — and had 12 assists. He hit 16-of-23 free throws in the game. He also had a triple-double against the Hornets on Nov. 24, 2017, going 27-16-13 in a one-point victory.
Chicago Bulls
If there is such a thing as a quiet triple-double, LeBron had one on Jan, 2, 2009 against Chicago. His totals were 16 points, 10 rebounds and 11 assists in a 117-92 Cavaliers romp.
Cleveland Cavaliers
When he left Cleveland to play for the Miami Heat, he had new threads but had the same game. LeBron faced the Cavaliers for the fourth time in his first season with Miami on March 29, 2011. He scored 27 points and notched 10 rebounds and 12 assists. But it was not enough as Cleveland posted a 102-90 victory.
Dallas Mavericks
The Dallas Mavericks faced LeBron on April 1, 2018 and he played them for fools. He only shot 5-for-21 from the field but still managed 16 points, 13 rebounds and 12 assists as the Cavaliers won, 98-87.
Denver Nuggets
The Denver Nuggets faced LeBron’s marvelous talents on Jan. 19, 2007. In 40 minutes, James scored 30 points and had 10 rebounds and 10 assists. However, the Nuggets managed to escape with a 95-92 victory over the Cavs.
Detroit Pistons
The Detroit Pistons were mowed down by Cleveland, 113-101, on March 16, 2010, as LeBron played 43 minutes and had 29 points and a dozen rebounds and assists, respectively.
Golden State Warriors
On Jan. 22, 2005, LeBron went for 28 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists as Cleveland defeated the Warriors, 105-87. He played 43 minutes, shot 13-for-24 from the field and was 2-for-2 from the line.
Houston Rockets
LeBron faced the Houston Rockets on Feb. 19, 2008. He put on a show, going for 26 points, 13 rebounds and 11 assists in a 93-85 loss. James hit 7-for-18 from the field, including 4-of-7 from behind the arc.
Indiana Pacers
The line read 30-11-10 as LeBron triple-double against the Indiana Pacers on Nov. 25, 2007 in a 111-106 Cavaliers victory. It took 36 minutes for James to reach these stats. He triple-doubled again against Indy less than three months later, going 31-14-12 in another victory.
Los Angeles Clippers
LeBron took advantage of the Clippers on March 10, 2009, scoring 32 points, grabbing 13 rebounds and notching 11 assists as the Cavaliers posted an 87-83 victory.
Los Angeles Lakers
It was Christmas 2010 when LeBron and the Heat faced the Lakers. He put on a holiday show, going for 27-11-10 and adding four steals in a 96-80 road victory for Miami.
Memphis Grizzlies
The Cavaliers’ game with Memphis on Jan. 13, 2009 saw LeBron play 40 minutes in a 102-87 victory. He shot 9-15 from the field en route to 30 points and added 11 assists with 10 rebounds.
Miami Heat
The Cavaliers faced the Miami Heat on March 7, 2009. LeBron would post a triple-double against his future team in Cleveland’s 99-89 victory. He went for 14 points, 10 rebounds and 12 assists in 43 minutes.
Milwaukee Bucks
On April 9, 2005, LeBron went off against the Bucks. He had 40 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists while playing 47 minutes. James was 7-13 from 3-point range, hitting 15-for-26 overall as the Cavs won by 98-81.
Minnesota Timberwolves
There were plenty of offensive fireworks when the Cavs and Timberwolves met on Feb. 7, 2018. The game saw Cleveland win, 140-138, in overtime. LeBron played 48 minutes, scored 37 points, grabbed 10 rebounds and dished 15 assists.
New Orleans Pelicans
The New Orleans Pelicans were added to the list of triple-double victims by LeBron James on Jan. 23, 2017. In a 124-122 loss to New Orleans by Cleveland, LeBron played 44 minutes and 26 points, 10 rebounds and 12 assists.
New York Knicks
LeBron and Miami downed the Knicks 113-91 on Dec. 17, 2010, as he had a field day, scoring 32 points, grabbing 11 rebounds and adding 10 assists in 38 minutes.
Oklahoma City Thunder
The Thunder became the 30th team for LeBron to achieve a triple-double against on Nov. 19, 2019. He went for 25 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists to complete the NBA triple-double cycle. It was an incredible feat by a marvelous athlete.
Orlando Magic
In a tough 117-116 overtime loss to Orlando on Nov. 14, 2007, LeBron played 47 minutes, scored 39 points, grabbed 13 boards and had 14 assists.
Philadelphia 76ers
The Philadelphia 76ers had no answer for LeBron on Nov. 19, 2005. He went for 36 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists in Cleveland’s 123-120 victory. He played all but one minute in the game.
Phoenix Suns
The Phoenix Suns were lit up to the tune of 34-10-13 as LeBron led the Cavaliers to an eight-point victory, 119-11, on March 12, 2009. James added three steals and three blocks to his performance.
Portland Trailblazers
On Jan. 19, 2005, LeBron posted a triple-double against Portland in a 107-101 victory for Cleveland on the road. James had 27 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists. He shot 11-for-16 from the field, including hitting his lone 3-point attempt.
Sacramento Kings
LeBron took advantage of Sacramento on Jan. 27, 2009 in Cleveland’s 117-110 victory. He played 38 minutes and went 23-15-11 for the triple-double.
San Antonio Spurs
San Antonio faced the Lakers on Nov. 3, 2019, and LeBron was in vintage form. He played 37 minutes in LA’s 103-96 victory and had 21 points, 11 rebounds and 13 assists.
Toronto Raptors
On April 20, 2005, LeBron torched Toronto. He scored 27 points, had 14 rebounds and 14 assists as Cleveland downed the Raptors, 104-95. The only weak spot that game was his shooting from behind the arc as he was 2-8.
Utah Jazz
The Jazz were unable to contain LeBron on Nov. 7, 2007. The all-world player went for 32 points, 15 rebounds and 13 assists. It wasn’t enough as Utah downed Cleveland, 103-101.
Washington Wizards
The Washington Wizards became a notch in LeBron’s triple-double resume on Dec. 4, 2012. Washington came away with a 105-101 victory despite James’ 26 points, 13 rebounds and 11 assists in 43 minutes.
