LeBron James relishes playing underneath numbers of Kobe and Shaq

LeBron James and his place in Los Angeles Lakers lore is a sensitive discussion at times, with Lakers loyalists believing he hasn’t done enough to be an All-Time Laker while LeBron’s biggest fans point out that he’s already as great as any of the Lakers great players. But James himself is a student of the game and whenever he notices himself in the NBA’s history, he wants to reflect on it. One of those moments was captured in a photo of a workout at the Lakers practice facility with LeBron caught between the retired No. 24 and No. 34 of Lakers legends Kobe Bryant and Shaquille O’Neal.

LeBron and Anthony Davis have the best chance the Lakers have had to win an NBA title since the Lakers last championship run with Kobe Bryant and Pau Gasol. It’s pretty clear that LeBron hopes all Lakers fans will mention him in the same breath as Bryant and Shaq when this season ends.
