LeBron James Refutes Latest Injury Report: ‘I Speak for Myself’

LeBron James swiftly and firmly denied a report about his injury status on Thursday afternoon with a decisive tweet amid speculation on when he will return to the court.

“There wasn’t an evaluation today and there hasn’t been any target date for my return,” he said on Twitter. “I’m just working around the clock, every day(3X a day) to give myself to best chance of coming back full strength whenever that is. God bless y’all sources. I speak for myself!”

The Lakers star didn’t specifically call out any reporters or publications, but he could be referring to reports that came from ESPN and The Athletic just minutes before his tweet.

Both publications reported James could return from injury for the last three games of the regular season. Neither publication, however, reported that James was evaluated on Thursday.

James, 38, suffered a tendon injury in his right foot on Feb. 26 and has been sidelined ever since as his team continues to fight for a playoff spot in the Western Conference. Before his injury, James was averaging 29.5 points, 8.4 rebounds and 6.9 assists per game.

Los Angeles is currently sitting at the No. 10 seed with a 36–37 record.
