LeBron James-produced Muhammad Ali documentary premieres May 14

LeBron James, Maverick Carter and SpringHill Entertainment are once again producing a headline-grabbing project, that will soon come to a screen near you.

HBO announced on Friday that the SpringHill Entertainment-produced documentary on Muhammad Ali will debut on May 14, with both parts of the documentary playing back-to-back. It’s nearly three hours in total, but LeBron and Maverick Carter both say that was the only way to really tell the totality of his life.

HBO released an interview with Carter and James on Friday.

LeBron James shared photos on his Instagram feed during the film’s production of him reading Ali biographies in order to capture a better sense of him.

And although LeBron doesn’t say it explicitly, it’s clear that he’s trying to follow Ali’s footsteps in terms of his impact outside of the sporting arena. The LeBron James Family Foundation and I Promise school are just a few examples of that attempt to follow in Ali’s legacy.

“The legacy Ali left behind should be told for generations,” LeBron said.
