LeBron James partners with Walmart to fight hunger and promote education

The LeBron James Family Foundation announced that LeBron James and Walmart Inc. have formed a partnership to help fight hunger, promote education and create positive change in the community. During this joint venture, Walmart will help supply the food pantry at the ‘I Promise School’ in Akron. The pantry is available at all times to ‘I Promise’ families to provide fresh and frozen food, toiletries and other necessities.

In return, LeBron will help Walmart by raising awareness for its ‘Fight Hunger, Spark Change’ campaign that is working to provide more than one billion meals to families in need. For every participating item purchased at Walmart, the company helps provide a meal through Feeding America. LeBron appeared in the following video with Walmart CEO, Doug McMillon, to announce the project.

“Growing up in Akron, the whole city supported my dreams, supported my friends’ dreams,” LeBron said in the video. “They gave us shelter. Gave us food. We always felt like we had that support. Partnering with Walmart is about the commitment to the community. Walmart has done so many great things all over the world but it starts in their hometown of Bentonville, Arkansas. Same as me starting in my hometown of Akron, Ohio. We don’t forget where we come from.”
