Among the many topics discussed during Saturday night’s new episode of The Shop on HBO, a variety of big names came around to discuss one of the newest big names of the past year: Duke star and presumptive No. 1 pick in the 2019 NBA Draft, Zion Williamson.
James and Williamson have been connected in headlines for obvious reasons, with Williamson being the most highly-touted prospect since James. The NBA superstar even made an off-day visit to see Williamson play against eventual national champion Virginia during an Eastern Conference road trip. Also, sneaker industry insiders expect Zion to have one of the greatest paydays on that front since James.
When Williamson came up as a topic during The Shop, James said the first thing that stood out about Williamson was the energy he plays with. James said that energy is “infectious.”
LeBron’s comments, and visits with Williamson, drew cries of tampering from several considering his unique position with Rich Paul and Klutch Sports. But it’s clear LeBron’s admiration for Zion has less to do with Klutch Sports and more with respect for how he plays the game.
