LeBron James on whether Zion should play for Duke again: ‘It’s not my lane’

LeBron James is usually free to speak his mind on just about anything. But when it comes to the career of a young basketball phenom and what he should do, he won’t have a lot to say publicly about that.

LeBron James was asked by the basketball topic of the day from reporters at the Lakers shootaround on Thursday morning, regarding the injury to Duke star Zion Williamson and whether he should play again for Duke this season.

James told reporters in Los Angeles that he wished for the best for Williamson, but said it’s not for him or anyone else to decide what’s best for the hulking forward.

“It’s not someone to go and sit across the table and go, ‘LeBron said this about this kid,’” James said. “He has to do what’s best for him and his family is always going to support him. … It’s not my lane to talk about what he should do going forward.”

James also suggested that if Zion really does want to pick his brain, it wouldn’t be that hard. Like most basketball fans, James reacted to Williamson’s injury during Wednesday’s Duke-North Carolina game.

James and the Lakers are back on the court tonight when they host the Houston Rockets.
