LeBron James on opening night loss to Clippers: ‘It’s not a rivalry’

Although the NBA’s schedulers clearly had an agenda when they put Los Angeles vs. Los Angeles on the schedule as the late game on the league’s first night of the season, LeBron James wants nothing to do with the league’s rivalry narrative between the two L.A. teams.

Following the Lakers’ 112-102 loss to the Clippers on Tuesday night, LeBron was asked about the game and how much it means in the greater scheme of the budding Los Angeles rivalry between the two NBA teams. James, on Game 1 of 82, decided to not pay the rivalry narrative any mind.

Via Ben Golliver of The Washington Post:

LeBron had a solid performance but was far from being the best player on the court in Tuesday night’s game. James had 18 points, eight assists and nine rebounds in the loss, while Danny Green led the Lakers with 28 points on the evening.

LeBron and the Lakers have a relatively easy schedule to start the season but before they get there, they’ve got to face off against one of the league’s sexiest title picks in the Utah Jazz on Friday night.
