LeBron James on missing playoffs for first time since 2005: ‘Keep pushing’

LeBron James finally faced the reality that he will miss the playoffs for the first time since 2005 and he looked pretty dejected after the game in his postgame interview.

And in facing the reality in front of him, James moving forward immediately instead of wallowing in the disappointment of missing the playoffs. James told reporter that he just wanted to ‘keep pushing,’ while then looking back at all the things that went wrong for the Lakers. Things like suspensions after their first home game, crucial injuries to LeBron James, Brandon Ingram and Lonzo Ball throughout the year, but there’s nothing they can do about it now.

From Ben Golliver of the Washington Post

Over the past few weeks, James tried to project a positive face forward when talking about the season overall. A few weeks ago, James sounded like a guy who knew missing the playoffs could happen when he joined the Lakers. But last night it looked like a superstar dejected he would be missing out on the most important and competitive games on the calendar.

It’s a new world for the NBA and for LeBron James. He won’t be in the playoffs, we won’t be watching him and it seems like that’s finally hit him. Unfortunately, waiting for next year is but a small consolation for the moment.
