Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James added to his case as the 2020-21 NBA MVP on Thursday night as he led the Lakers to their fourth straight victory after the All-Star break. James had his third-highest scoring game of the season with 37 points and continued to anchor an elite Lakers defense playing without two-time All-Defense first-team selection Anthony Davis and former Defensive Player of the Year Marc Gasol.
While the rest of the Lakers certainly deserve credit for how the defense has played, LeBron James has absolutely been the catalyst for their great play on that end while also being the leader of the offense. It’s for those reasons, as well as the Lakers’ current standing at No. 2 in the West, why LeBron has a strong case of the NBA. And that’s to say nothing of the MVP awards he thinks he should have, which he addressed on Thursday night.

James is not “sitting around” and crying about it but he is certainly doing something about it with his play this season, leading the Lakers to a great defense at 36 years old without two keystones to their defensive gameplan.
