LeBron James on had he gone to Ohio State: ‘My Mom and I didn’t have anything’

LeBron James’ support of the California Fair Pay to Play Act culminated in a historic moment when the Governor of California Gavin Newsom signed it into law during an appearance on UNINTERRUPTED’s “The Shop.” And after that historic moment, LeBron was predictably asked about it following the Lakers practice on Monday and it turned into an interesting discussion about what it would have been like for him to go to college.

He brought up the hypothetical of playing at Ohio State and all that would have happened while he and his mother continued to struggle.

LeBron is one of the last vestiges of the era when high school players could go straight to the NBA and clearly for him, as well as his mother, college was never a realistic option for him. But perhaps the path for the next LeBron James to go to college without keeping his family in a vulnerable situation will be a lot easier. However, the NCAA will definitely have something to say about the legislation Newsom signed into law before things really change.
