LeBron James now a 100-1 longshot to be NBA MVP, Giannis favorite

The Los Angeles Lakers are a longshot to make the playoffs as they’re three games out of the postseason with 23 games left to play, so perhaps it shouldn’t be surprising that LeBron James is not a contender for MVP for the first time in over a decade.

According to updated MVP odds at the Las Vegas Westgate, LeBron is 4th in the latest odds, tied with basically everyone else outside of the three players Vegas considers the top-3 MVP candidates. James is a 100-1 shot behind Paul George at 7-1, James Harden at 2-1 and heavy favorite Giannis Antetokounmpo.

Odds chart via Matt Moore of The Action Network

Player 2/25 Odds
Giannis Antetokounmpo -250
James Harden +200
Paul George +700
LeBron James +10000
Steph Curry +10000
Kawhi Leonard +10000
Joel Embiid +10000
Kevin Durant +10000
Russell Westbrook +10000
Nikola Jokic +10000

The Lakers loss on Saturday to a Pelicans team playing without Anthony Davis certainly didn’t help his chances. But his MVP chances are an accurate representation of the precarious position he and the Lakers are in.
