The first player of the week award in the new decade went like many of the ones from the past as LeBron James was named Western Conference Player of the Week for the week of Dec. 30-Jan. 5, as the Lakers amassed a 3-0 record and LeBron averaged a triple-double of 23 points, 11 rebounds and 11 assists per game over the past week.
In the Eastern Conference, reigning NBA MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo of the Milwaukee Bucks took home the honor. The Bucks still have the NBA’s best record at a strong 32-5.
For LeBron, this week’s award was his third Player of the Week selection of the season. He won the award for his play during the week of Dec. 8-15 a few weeks ago.
James has now won three Player of the Week awards while his teammate Anthony Davis has been named West Player of the Week twice already this season. And given how the Lakers are playing, those two won’t stop racking up the accolades.
