LeBron James: Lakers can honor Kobe by playing at ‘very intellectual’ level

LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers can never get back to normal but they are getting used to their new reality as the franchise continues to move forward after last Sunday’s tragic death of Kobe Bryant, his daughter Gigi, and seven others in a helicopter crash. Wherever the Lakers go from now through the rest of the season, they will likely have some kind of Kobe tribute. And to adjust to that, the Lakers are looking to play at a level Kobe would appreciate.

After Saturday night’s win against the Kings, LeBron James was asked about if the Lakers knew how much more Kobe meant. However, he didn’t need the reminder but he also said that the Lakers must play at a very intellectual level in order to honor Kobe’s legacy.

“I knew that before. It just puts everything in persepct. But I knew that before, we knew that before what he meant to the organization as a whole. But the daily reminder is great, because of what he meant to this franchise, for 20 years. It’s our obligation to go out and play the game at a very intellectual manner, to play that winning mentality, that’s what he would want.”

The Lakers have slowly gotten back to their regular jobs as best as they can over the past week.
