LeBron James, Lakers back to NBA Finals after epic 4th quarter finish

After a one-year absence from the postseason, LeBron James is back in the NBA Finals for the ninth time in 10 seasons. After the longest stretch of losing seasons in franchise history, the Los Angeles Lakers are back in the NBA Finals for the first time since they won the championship over the Boston Celtics in 2010. But the Denver Nuggets didn’t make it easy, pushing LeBron James to have his best game of the playoffs and perhaps the most memorable stretch of this postseason run.

James had 12 of his 38 points in the 4th quarter, including a series of jump shots in the final four minutes to close the Nuggets out after they rallied to cut the Lakers lead to 2 points in the final period. Perhaps no shot was as big as this 3-pointer to put the Lakers up by 12 with 2 minutes left. James ended the game with 38 points, 16 rebounds, and 10 assists.

Not only did LeBron succeed in getting the Lakers to the Finals, but he was also successful in earning some extra rest. The NBA Finals will start on Wednesday if the Miami Heat closes out the Boston Celtics tomorrow but probably won’t start until Friday if the Celtics force a Game 7.
