LeBron James: Lakers are just ‘scratching the surface’ with 5-1 start

The Los Angeles Lakers and LeBron James are riding high after winning their fifth straight game and notching their second straight road win with Sunday night’s victory over the San Antonio Spurs.

LeBron continued to added to his league-leading assist total with 13 assists on Sunday, while Anthony Davis continued to score the ball well. But in addition to the two stars, the Lakers got monster contributions from a host of role players. Dwight Howard was a perfect 7-for-7 from the field go to with 12 rebounds and two blocks while Kentavious Caldwell-Pope scored 14 points, including a couple of huge jump shots to help the Lakers hold off a late Spurs run.

Still, James doesn’t think they’ve played their best. And as a team with aspirations of June success, it’s encouraging to hear that James isn’t satisfied.

James has been spectacular and has thrived with the infusion of Davis, as well as the added shooting and even Howard’s strength around the basket. After last season’s nightmarish start to the season, the Lakers strong start to this season is giving some real proof to answer their preseason hype
