Count LeBron James among the players who are not exactly excited for the NBA season to make its return in the coming weeks. The NBA and the player reps of the NBPA agreed in principle to the league’s proposal to play a 72-game NBA season starting on December 22. For LeBron and the Lakers, who played their last game on October 11 when they won the championship, that will give them a previously unheard of 71 days off between the end of the last season and the beginning of this one.
LeBron was watching a break down of the shortest offseasons we’ve seen before in North American professional sports and all he could do was shake his head while getting in a workout.

It’s a truth that basketball, especially for those in the NBA, never truly stops. But to go from playing the most important games of your life only to start the marathon all over again immediately after has to feel a bit deflating. However, while LeBron isn’t super excited to get back to it, there were also plenty of players who didn’t want to go to the bubble but did anyway. At times like this, the NBA needs everyone, including LeBron, to sacrifice a little for the greater good of the league.
